Trust and safety

Trust is the product.

Clartiv is a marketplace for food, but what we really build is confidence. Confidence that the person cooking is the person on the listing, that they are allowed to sell what they are selling, and that your money is safe until the food is in your hands. Here is exactly how that works, in plain language.

Cleared to sell, every cook
Payment held until pickup
No address is ever public
Verification

Three checks before a single dish appears.

Cleared as a person. Cleared for a specific list of dishes. Cleared to keep selling. One badge on the listing carries all three.

CHECK 01

Who they are

Every cook is confirmed as the person running the kitchen. Real name on the listing, cleared to sell where they live. Buyers see a verified badge and the cook's story, and if the paperwork is not in order, no listing goes live.

CHECK 02

What they may sell

Home food rules differ by province and often by city. We review where a cook lives and what they want to make, then clear them for a specific list. Anything outside that list simply cannot be listed.

CHECK 03

How they stay cleared

Verification is not a one time favour. Certificates and permits are tracked and must stay current. Every order can be reviewed, and repeated problems end a cook's time on Clartiv.

Protected payments

Nobody has to trust a stranger with cash.

Money is where marketplaces usually get uncomfortable. We removed the discomfort by making sure it is never handed over in person and never released too early.

01

Paid at reservation, in the app

No cash at the door, ever. The total shown at checkout is the total charged.

02

Held by Clartiv, not by the cook

The cook can see the order is genuine and start cooking with confidence. The money stays out of reach until the handover.

03

Released after pickup is confirmed

Both sides confirm in the app. The cook then receives their full price, on a payout schedule they can plan around.

04

If something goes wrong, a person answers

Food not collected, order not made, something not right. We look at it, we decide fairly, and we tell both people the reasoning.

Privacy

Two homes to protect, not one.

A cook shares a kitchen. A buyer shares a card. Both are worth guarding, and neither one hides behind the other.

If you cook

Your address never appears on a listing and is never searchable.

Pickup details reach one buyer, for one order, close to the pickup window.

You can use a nearby pickup point instead of your home, always.

Messages stay inside Clartiv. Your phone number is yours.

If you buy

Cooks see your first name and your order. Not your address, not your card.

Your payment details are handled by our payment provider, never stored by a cook.

We do not sell your data, and we do not build advertising profiles from what you eat.

You can delete your account and your history whenever you want.

Food safety and local rules

We work inside the rules, not around them.

Clartiv does not replace public health authorities and does not pretend to. Their rules exist for good reasons, and our job is to make following them the easiest path for a cook, rather than a hurdle they are tempted to skip.

That is also why we grow slowly. We open a community only once we understand what is permitted there and can verify cooks properly.

Allergens are stated, not implied

Every listing names its ingredients and what else is present in the kitchen. You can ask the cook directly before reserving.

Higher risk food needs higher clearance

Some foods can only be sold with specific permits or facilities. Where that is the case, a cook is not cleared for them, full stop.

Handling standards, taught not assumed

Cooks are guided on safe preparation, storage, temperature, and packaging, and asked to hold food safety training where their region expects it.

Anyone can raise a concern

One tap to report a listing or an experience. We investigate quickly, and we would rather pause a cook and be wrong than wait and be right.

Our commitments

Four things we will never do.

The clearest way to know what a marketplace stands for is to know what it will not do. Here are the four we hold to, without exception.

Take a cut of a cook's food

Their price is theirs. This is not an introductory offer.

Let an unverified cook sell

Growth is never a reason to skip a check. Not one listing, not once.

Publish anyone's home

Addresses are shared for one pickup, with one person, and no wider.

Sell what we know about you

Your food, your neighbourhood, your habits. Not for sale, at any price.

Something concerns you about a listing, a cook, or an order. Tell us and a person will read it.

Report something

Now you know what stands behind the food.

This is what “homemade, and trusted” actually costs to build. We think it is worth it.
