If you are buying
Is this a delivery app?
No. There is no fleet of drivers. You reserve food from a cook near you and either collect it yourself or the cook brings it, whichever they offer. That is what keeps the food at its best and the price honest.
How do I know the food is safe?
Every cook is cleared for exactly the kind of food they sell, based on the rules where they live. Listings state ingredients and what else is present in the kitchen, and you can ask a cook questions before you reserve.
What if something is wrong with my food?
Tell us right away through the app. Because your payment is protected until pickup and for a short window after, we can step in fairly if something is not right. Real problems reach a real person on our team, not a form that goes nowhere.
Is Clartiv available where I live?
Not yet, anywhere. We are opening communities across Canada one at a time, only once we can verify cooks there properly. Tell us where you are and you will hear from us the moment we arrive.
Can I order for a party or a whole week?
Yes. Many cooks take larger orders with a few days of notice, and plenty offer meal prep for the week. Ask in the app and they will tell you what they can do.
If you are cooking
Am I allowed to sell food from my home?
In much of Canada, yes, inside specific rules that vary by province and sometimes by city. During onboarding we look at where you live and what you want to sell, then clear you for exactly that. If something is not permitted where you are, we tell you plainly rather than letting you risk it.
What does Clartiv cost me?
Nothing to join, nothing to list, and no commission on your food. Clartiv is paid through a small service fee on the buyer's side, shown to them clearly before they pay. Standard payment processing costs apply as they do anywhere money moves, and we show you those in plain numbers.
Will buyers see my address?
Never on your listing, and never searchable. Pickup details go to one buyer, for one order, close to the pickup time. You can also choose a nearby pickup point and keep your home entirely out of it.
Do I need a certificate or a permit?
It depends on your region and on what you want to sell. Some cooks need food handling training or a local permit, others do not. We tell you what applies to you and help you get it.
How much can I actually earn?
We will not throw a number at you, because it depends on your prices, your batch sizes, and how often you cook. What we can promise is arithmetic you can trust. You keep the full price you set, so your earnings are your price multiplied by what you sell.
Do I have to leave where I sell now?
No. Many cooks run Clartiv alongside what they already do, and move over as their Clartiv customers grow. There is no rush and no lock-in.
Money
How does Clartiv make money if cooks keep everything?
A small service fee is added on the buyer's side at checkout, shown clearly before payment. It pays for verification, protected payments, and support. The cook's price is never touched, which is the part we consider non-negotiable.
When exactly does a cook get paid?
After the pickup is confirmed. The earnings are then released and paid into the cook's bank account on a set schedule, which they can see in advance.
Can I cancel, and do I get a refund?
Cancel early, before the cook has started shopping, and you are refunded in full. Closer to pickup, the cook has already bought ingredients and given up their evening, so the terms protect them too. The window is always shown before you reserve.
Can I pay cash at the door?
No, and that is a feature. Paying in the app is what makes the protection possible for both people, and it means nobody is counting change on a doorstep.
Safety and privacy
What does verified actually mean?
Three things. They are the person on the listing, they are cleared for the specific food they sell where they live, and any paperwork their region requires is in order. It is not a badge you buy.
I have a serious allergy. Can I use Clartiv?
Listings state ingredients and what else is present in the kitchen, and you can message the cook before reserving. We will always be straight with you. These are home kitchens, not allergen-free facilities, so if your allergy is severe, talk to the cook first and decide with the full picture.
What do you do with my data?
We use it to run your orders and keep the marketplace safe. We do not sell it, and we do not build advertising profiles from what you eat. You can delete your account and your history whenever you like.
How do I report a problem?
One tap on any listing or order, or write to us directly. We investigate quickly, and we would rather pause a cook while we look than wait and be sorry.
